Africa is evocative.

The name alone elicits mystery, excitement, possibility. Time follows the rhythms of untamed nature. Dawn is welcomed by a swelling orchestra of songbirds — the most pleasing alarm clock known to man. Lions roar in the distance, daring you to venture forth. Tension builds as a cheetah readies its speedy pounce. Gentle giraffes float on the plains, while clumsy baby elephants play at a watering hole. The earliest sight of mankind are tribal footpaths that wind through savanna and brush, from village to village.

Africa begs you to ask: Which is more vibrant — the colors of the land or its people? Maasai warriors, cloaked in brilliant red shawls gaze toward the horizon — searching, but for what? Their ancient knowledge has been passed on through generations. Savannas painted gold by the sun, healing turquoise waters, pink-hued sugar sand beaches.

Excitement. Adventure. Relaxation. This is the Africa you’ve dreamed of — unlike anything you’ve experienced back home. Here, you’re granted the space to breathe. To soak in the lessons of this ancient, timeless land.

It’s a story you’ve longed to experience for yourself.

Who greets me upon arrival?

How much does a safari cost?
Metamo safaris are not intended to be cheap. We are a true luxury outfit and cater to people who can afford such an experience. The good news is that you won’t have to worry about planning even one second of your experience — it’s a true break from your hectic everyday life.

With that said, the cost of your safari also depends on the following factors: destination, type of safari, time of year, length of visit, and the number of people in your party.

What are the accommodations like?

Our safaris cater to people who want total comfort and luxury. Accommodations range from deluxe tented camps to luxury lodges and resorts — each imaginatively built to be at one with its surroundings and with a focus on the ecosystem. To read more about our lodges and camps, click here.

What is the food like?
Simply put: fresh, delicious, plentiful, varied, and healthy. Even picky eaters will find plenty of options to choose from. Your typical breakfast will include eggs and pancakes, fresh fruits, cereals, and more. Lunch can include pastas, fresh fish, rice and vegetables, cheeses, and more. Dinners are off the menu — and at some lodges they are buffets with a wide range of international and local delicacies.
What’s the best time of year to go on safari?

While there is no simple answer, generally speaking, July through October and January through February are the busiest months in East Africa because they’re the driest time of the year. That means dirt roads are passable and animals are out in search of water. For more detailed information, visit our When To Travel page.

How much time would you recommend for safari?

A few days on safari may not sound like a lot, but you’ll see and experience so much that you’ll feel like you’ve been gone longer. Our safaris range from 9 to 18 days. Generally speaking, 9 to 12 days is a great place to start, but we strongly recommend you get in touch with a Metamo Travel Expert to find out what’s best for you.
